Middlesex Juniors are champions... again!

Middlesex Juniors are champions again

Following the success of the Middlesex juniors in winning the national U18 and U13 County Championships last Sunday, the U14/130 team beat Berkshire 16.5-7.5 in the U14/130 Southern Counties Final held in Maidenhead on Saturday.

This is a fantastic feat by the U14/130 team and Middlesex Juniors ended the week with three trophies.

The team in Board Order was Gabriel Balouka-Myers, Reuben Balouka-Myers, Harrison Willmoth, Jacob Goldberg, Liam Reed, Tim Lewis, Dylan Hung, Devin Karia, Tej Shah, Lara Mallin, Toby Balouka-Myers and Raphael Balouka-Myers.

This was a fabulous team effort with great results across the Boards. Eight of the players were undefeated with five winning both matches - Reuben, Dylan, Devin, Toby and Raphael. Gabriel and Lara had a win and a draw. Liam had two draws.

Middlesex juniors are national champions

Middlesex Juniors are Champions!
Middlesex Juniors are Champions!

Middlesex juniors came out top at the annual English Chess Federation's U18 and U13 County Chess Championships held in Grantham on Sunday 21 June.

The U18 A team led by Surjit Dhemrait and the U13 A team led by Kamlesh Karia both won the national titles beating off strong competition from local rivals Sussex who were pushed into second place.

This was a fantastic feat by the juniors, well earned and reflects the strength of junior chess across North London. Middlesex had 36 juniors taking part with two teams of 12 in the U18 Open and another two teams of six in the U13 Open sections.

U18 Open Championships
The teams in this section played two standard play matches with jamboree pairings.
